3. Children's Data

We take the privacy of children especially seriously. Child profiles on Sophia Home Education contain only a first name and a username chosen by the parent. We do not collect email addresses or any other personal data from child accounts.

All child profiles are created and managed by the parent account holder. Parents are responsible for ensuring that child profile information is appropriate and accurate.

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 directly. All data relating to children on this platform is provided and managed by their parent or guardian.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect solely to:

Provide and operate the Sophia Home Education platform
Manage your subscription and process payments
Send account-related emails such as password resets and subscription notices
Display progress and screen time information to parents
Improve the platform based on usage patterns
Respond to support queries

We do not use your data for marketing purposes without your explicit consent. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.

5. Data Sharing

We share data with third parties only where necessary to operate the platform:

Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles all card data and is PCI DSS compliant. We receive only a customer reference number. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
Hosting provider — our server provider hosts the platform and database. Data is stored on servers in the UK or EU.

We do not share your data with any other third parties. We will disclose data if required to do so by law or to protect our legal rights.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or destruction.

Passwords are stored using one-way cryptographic hashing — they cannot be read or recovered by anyone, including us. This is why we can only reset passwords, not retrieve them.

While we take security seriously, no system is completely secure. If you suspect your account has been compromised please contact us immediately.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account or request deletion we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial reasons.

Usage and progress data associated with child profiles is deleted when the parent account is deleted.

8. Cookies

Sophia Home Education uses session cookies to keep you logged in during your visit. These cookies are essential to the operation of the platform and cannot be disabled.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any similar service.
